Have you heard of Flipboard? It seems like a fairly untapped platform but one that might make quite an impact.
\nI'm not sure when it launched, but I just learned about it recently and from what I can tell, it's new to a lot of other food bloggers as well!
\nI've only been using it for a couple of weeks now so I'm definitely not an expert, but here's a high level overview of it!
\nβFlipboard is an app where you can flip through articles and curate your own online magazines with them.
\nIt sort of gives off Pinterest vibes, but seems low maintenance and more user and publisher-friendly.
\nArticle (noun): an embedded blog post
βMagazine (noun): a group of articles (think \"Board\")
βFlip (verb): add an article to a magazine (think \"Pin\")
Me to me: So why isn't it called Flipmagazine? π€
\nFlipboard encourages community by flipping each others articles into personal or group magazines.
\nIt's a place where you can browse through a variety of blog articles and click through to the publisher's actual website.
\nπ Tip: If you get an error while changing your username, try making it shorter! It can't be longer than 15 characters (hence @brokenovenbakes π).
\nIt isn't a search engine, so there's no SEO component to it. You just share stuff with clickbaity headlines and drool-worthy photos to catch people's eyes π
\nIt's not a greedy social platform that wants to keep you on its app and only its app forever and ever.
\nIt also isn't a place where you can DM people or feel the need to leave comments. In fact, I've barely seen any comments while flipping through articles the past couple of weeks.
\nSounds nice, right? π
\nEverything I've learned so far has been from my own first-hand experience and from someone who's received a ton of traffic from it. He goes into detail about Flipboard and his strategies in this podcast episode - highly recommend giving it a listen!
\nIf you sign(ed) up for Flipboard, reply to this email with your username/profile link and I'll give you a follow π
