What's your strategy? 🤔

Blogging Bites #85

Hey Reader,

We both know there are a ton of moving parts as a food blogger/content creator 😅

  • Grocery shopping
  • Testing recipes
  • Taking photos & videos
  • Writing blog posts & newsletters
  • Keyword researching
  • Updating things on the backend
  • Promoting & engaging on social media
  • Pitching to brands & media
  • and the list goes on and on...

When I'm in the thick of it every day, I find it difficult to put all the pieces together.

And when I can't connect the pieces, everything feels so overwhelming and like I'm just doing things without a purpose.

It's hard to zoom out and think about my strategy at large, but when I do, it helps me calm down and realize I might be overcomplicating things.

On a high level, I think the overall strategy boils down to 4 main pieces:

  1. Creating content that solves your audience's problems
  2. Relating the content to each other
  3. Making the content easy to find & follow
  4. Promoting the content

Once I have those in mind, I can break them down into smaller steps!

For example:

1. Creating content

  • Testing recipes
  • Writing blog posts
  • Analyzing data
  • Etc.

2. Relating the content

  • Content clusters
  • Internal linking
  • Cross-promoting related recipes
  • Etc.

3. Making it easy to find & follow

  • Fast website
  • Good UX so users can get to a recipe within 3-4 clicks
  • Writing clear & concise instructions
  • Etc.

4. Promoting the content

  • Posting on social media
  • Sharing email newsletters
  • Building a community
  • Etc.

When I map everything out like this, it's easier for me to not only see the big picture, but also to plan out my weeks and stay motivated!

Now you might be thinking, where does monetization fit into this strategy??

Great question!

I like to think of monetization as a natural extension of serving your audience better!

When you show up consistently with helpful content that's connected, accessible, and shared effectively, you're building trust with your audience.

This trust makes your audience more likely to...

  • Return to your site & share it with others
  • Purchase products
  • Engage with sponsored content
  • Join your membership programs
  • Etc!

With that in mind, don't just create content for Google or keywords. Always ask yourself, "How does this serve my audience and my goals?"

I'm thinking of kicking off a group coaching program next year. We'd cover strategizing, analyzing, productivity, and more together!

If you're interested, would you mind filling out this survey so I can make sure the program is extra valuable to you?

Happy blogging!
